Emmy & I started a new project to continue our collaboration. We often send each other things by post. Interesting articles, books, little gifts and pretty postcards. We both enjoy getting and sending post and in this fast paced time we live in, it’s so nice and good for your creativity to wait and long for some snailmail.
We regularly meet on Skype. Discussing life and our struggles with art. The things that keep us busy and the things we worry about. Our talks go from very personal to very worldly topics and I always feel so inspired and happy after we met. Because we still live far apart and even further then before, we were thinking how we could work together again. But in a smaller size. We both live very small and making art during busy times leaves little room to create big.
We came up with the idea of sending eachother post and using our blog to share the things we receive. The first post I received from Emmy was inspired by her recent visit to Cuba. The little guy represent the hard working people of Cuba. He left the island in search of a new home, but it takes a lot of time to find a place you can call home. The palm tree reminds him of his home, his job as an gardener. Emmy asked me to take him with me on my walks and find a spot where he would feel at home.
